All 5th grade students in Prince William County Public Schools have the option of learning to play a musical instrument in Strings! Strings class meets during school and students participate in several performances. No prior musical experience is necessary!
Announcements Bass TryoutsStudents interested in playing the bass are invited to try out for the instrument. Tryouts will be held during school during the week of January 24. I will meet with each student individually for about 5 minutes to determine if the bass would be a good fit for your child. I will only be selecting two students to play the Bass. For more information about Bass Tryouts, please see the attachment below and return the permission form no later than Friday, January 21.
December Concert RescheduledOur first Strings concert has been rescheduled to Monday, January 24 at 7:00 p.m. Students should arrive at 6:30 p.m. wearing a white shirt and black pants. We are very excited to demonstrate what we have learned since September! Strings ConcertsWe will be performing at many concerts and events this year. The following is a list of Strings concert dates. Students should arrive 30 minutes before the concert begins. Monday, January 24, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. Winter Concert at Mary F. Williams Elementary School Thursday, March 10, 2011 at 6:30 p.m. Night of the Arts Performance at Mary F. Williams Elementary School Tuesday, March 22, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. Pyramid Concert at Potomac Middle School 5th Grade Strings students from Mary F. Williams, River Oaks, and Swans Creek will perform with the 6th Grade Orchestra from Potomac Middle School Thursday, April 14, 2011 After School Solo & Ensemble Festival at Potomac Middle School (Optional Event) Students will perform their instruments by themselves or in a small group in front of a music judge. Students who earn a rating high enough from the judge will receive a medal for their performance! Date TBA in May/June During the School Day Demonstration Concert for 4th Graders at Mary F.
